Goodfaith’s newest initiative, Family Matters, officially launched its pilot year with 65 participating families on September 22nd!

Thanks to a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., Goodfaith is designing a new program for families with two objectives:

  1. Give parents the opportunity to reflect on their “why” – why does their faith matter to them, what has their faith journey been to this point, why is this important for them in raising their families
  2. Provide opportunities to infuse Catholic social tradition into their family life.

And we’re doing all of this, while meeting them where they are – dinner tables, cars, practice fields, out on walks, or  bedroom floors.

We’re partnering with parishes across NJ, the archdiocese of Baltimore, and the diocese of St. Petersburg, and with parents from Jesuit Connections and the Goodfaith community.

So far, parents have been going through their “at-home” retreat – guided by our uniquely designed parent journal and our new online platform. They’ll be meeting with spiritual directors throughout the retreat time. And at the end of November, we’ll begin the first family journey focused on prayer and faith sharing. Every family will receive a curated box of activities and reflections to do together over three months.

So far during this time with the parents we’ve heard that they’re looking for:

  • community with other parents/families,
  • ways and places to live their faith together (not in silos),
  • a faith community that feels relevant and aligned with their values,
  • and moments to pause and reflect.

We’re truly honored and excited to journey with each of these families over the next year!
