We draw inspiration from St. Mary Magdalene – once discredited, now celebrated as the first person to whom the resurrected Christ appeared and proclaim the good news to the earliest disciples. “Apostle to the Apostles,” Mary of Magdala symbolizes the importance of the female voice in the global Church community.
Each year, the Circle gathers to hear from a prominent woman of faith on a relevant justice issue. Past speakers include Kerry Robinson, Global Ambassador of the Leadership Roundtable; Sr. Christine Schenk, Church Reformist and Historian; Sr. Norma Pimentel, Executive Director, Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, Dr. timone davis, Author, Speaker, and Professor at Loyola University, Chicago; Sr. Helen Prejean, activist and author of Dead Man Walking, Olga Segura, author of Birth of a Movement: Black Lives Matter and the Catholic Church; Ellie Hildago, co-director of Discerning Deacons; Carolyn Woo, author and former President and CEO of Catholic Relief Services; Sr. Joan Neal, deputy Executive Director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice; and Colleen Dulle, Vatican Correspondent for America and author of Struck Down, Not Destroyed: Keeping the Faith as a Vatican Reporter.
