At the end of October, Mare Ernesto joined nearly 1,800 people from across the U.S., as well as El Salvador, Mexico, Belize, Chile, and Canada at the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice (IFTJ) hosted by the Ignatian Spirituality Network. The Teach-In is the largest annual Catholic justice gathering in the country.
The Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice inspires people of all ages, especially young people, to build a more just world. It is a community animated by the love of God and united in our shared work for justice. Eighty percent of the attendees present were under the age of 24 – it was incredible to be among the young people of the church!
Goodfaith exhibited at the Teach-In this year, along with 75 other Catholic organizations and schools. There we shared information about Family Matters and NeXt Level programs. The young people we spoke with were very excited to hear about the work their peers had done in the first few years of NeXt Level. They were eager to learn more about that program as they skimmed through our research report, Accompanying Youth: Mapping the Path Toward Deeper Discipleship, and to know they could bring this program to their own communities.
