Goodfaith was thrilled to participate in a recent gathering of the Lilly Endowment’s “Strengthening Ministry with Children” Initiative. This is a joint effort convening grantees from two areas – Christian Parenting and Nurturing Children through Worship and Prayer. Together, more than 300 practitioners, researchers, and thought leaders met in Indianapolis for fellowship, peer learning, and idea sharing. It was a great opportunity to be inspired, ask questions, and feel affirmed in the unique work we are doing through our own grant program – Family Matters.
Goodfaith was one of a handful of Catholic grantees selected by Lilly Endowment in 2023 to participate in this initiative. Through Family Matters, we are accompanying parents in a deep exploration of their protagonism through the lens of Catholic social tradition.

This work is inspired, in part, by Mother Theresa who once said “If we truly want peace in the world, let us begin by loving one another in our own families.” One of our primary objectives is to equip parents and families to integrate this philosophy into everyday life. In Indianapolis, we were able to “test drive” a few key concepts during a breakout presentation. What a gift to be able to share and solicit feedback from such a talented and faith-filled group – many of whom shared personal stories and examples from their own contexts.
Family Matters will continue to expand in 2025! To express interest or learn more, please contact Mare Ernesto: [email protected].
